These songs took foreeeever to finish.

Ascending in particular I spent more time on than any other song, ever. Not that that means it's amazing. It started as a demo for my old band (The Ross Sea Party), then it turned into a Lost on Purpose track. The basic tracks were done at our old North Hollywood lockout and my house in Los Feliz. My roommate had a few friends over one night when I first started recording the track and I stopped their video gaming, taught them the chorus line ("nah nah nah nah nah nah"), set up a mic in the living room and hit 'record'. That's still in there, out of tune singing and all.

A couple years later I moved to Japan and kept working on it, adding a drum track recorded at the Shinjuku Jr. High music room that I was able to reserve using a public login I received when I started a dodgeball community in Tokyo (long story). Then Jacquie from The Ross Sea Party sent me a couple iphone files of her singing backups and I stuck those in as-is.

It was a headache to mix, I must have 20 different mixes from the past five years, but finally here it is, unfinished as all music is, but pretty rocking and a musical reminder of my past.
