  • Limited Edition Album - SOLD OUT

I'm really pleased with how the packaging turned out. The front and back covers feature two beautiful paintings by Viktor Vasnetsov (1848-1926) - one of which inspired the album title. These are complemented by an interior watercolor painted by the inimitable Eshom Nelms.

The CD comes in a four panel wallet, hand-numbered for authentication. Because this was a test run with a new print house there are only 75 available (less than 10 left as of July '11!). The album can be signed if you'd like, just shoot an email to lostonpurpose@gmail.com after purchasing.

    ---

Also includes immediate download of 8-track album in your choice of 320k mp3, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire.

Track Name: Outside L.A.
All the mirrors in my head
Point me towards the riverbed
While all these black and white pictures keep waiting

Dogs are barking all the time
I try to befriend Bear and Shy
But kick up dust and dry my eyes of her name

Ice cold beers and burning sun
The river turns the old men young
But fire without a female tongue just hurts

So send a soldier off to war
He doesn’t know what he’s fighting for
I ask him where, he asks me if I’m alone
Well I don’t know

Heard a story about a life
So full of hope, so just like mine
But he didn’t have the balls to try

All the music in my ears
Rattles drums and paints real tears
As snakes crawls across my new veneer

The city breathes and the city sighs
I weave my way from sight to site
My feet are sore but my soul is alive

One Monday plus yesterday
Are memories across the bay
Just memories for me to contemplate

Just a number in my phone
Just another girl I’ve known
This week usurped your reign upon my throne
Track Name: Love Is Not Enough
I feel alive for the first time in months
I look at girls but all of their love is
Not enough
I used to think I was a chosen one
You broke my heart I’m just a Dutch man’s song
I barely lift a finger at a nine to five
I got a sinking feeling I’m not really alive
It’s getting rough
We walked out the door and down the street
I looked you in the eyes and kissed both of your cheeks
It just feels right

The past six months I’ve been sizing you up
You’d look great next to me when I’m waking up
From a dream
Lift me back to the place I know
Where all the dead people are shoveling snow
In the morning light
We work for money and wish for fame
We want the whole world to adore our name
It’s a crush
Jesus loves me so I’m told
But where’d he come from and where the hell did he go?
Track Name: Tombs
There were tombs below the wings we rode
A field of souls

The tombs have sold a wealth of hope
Unspeakable

So picture this: some winter kiss
Unfeeling bliss

I came and went, I’ll be back again
A lie to a friend

And I feel like a fake watching tv, feeling pain
And I wonder what to make of this life we’ve been building
Out of money, out of hate, out of feeling afraid
That our lives won’t mean anything more than what we’ve left in the bank

The heart that beats this blood through me
Remember thee

The tombs below are leaking souls
And so they grow

We stand upon a fragile bond
A wish a song

You build to show the world your soul
Giant tombs in the snow

Well I feel like a fake watching tv, feeling pain
And I wonder what to make of this life we’ve been building
Out of money, out of hate, out of feeling afraid
That our lives won’t mean anything more than what we’ve left in the bank

Footprints in the snow, leading us home
Home is a place we forgot long ago
Along with our pride and sense of what’s right
We believe we’re the gold standard of these times

And tombs are below, carved into stone
And there’s still a chance to take it all back
There’s still a chance

Well I feel like a fake watching tv, feeling pain
And I wonder what to make of this life we’ve been building
Out of money, out of hate, out of feeling afraid
That our lives won’t mean anything more than what we’ve left in the bank
Track Name: How To Close
Hands down my favorite night
Too happy to not have a wife of my own
Icebergs in the sea
Span the horizon and i know what’s below

I retreat and I attack
Melt the icebergs with my eye contact, hell yeah
Seeing things I have never dreamed
I am innocent but you know what I mean

This is your life
This is your own
These are your friends
This is your home

And this is how you have to close
And this is how your heartbeat grows

Help me as I schedule things
Work my arms to I feel more complete inside
Reading makes me so strong
Her body tells me the friction’s on
Track Name: No More
No more, no remorse
A drop in the ocean on my mind
Never assume you know what to do
You shouldn’t feel this way should you
All my songs, they’re all yours
As my heart beats and contorts
Something to do, though I love you
Nothing’s sad but nothing’s true

Unmarked graves on the valley floors
Waterfalls yeah I want more
I took a rock straight off the wall
Now you’re not here at all
It feels closer than ever before
Bathed in the Eiffel tower’s glow
And I’ll never love my future wife
As much as I loved you that night

We’ll always have those better times
I can’t believe it’s over tonight
Track Name: You Will Overcome
I’ve spent all my life
Waiting for someone else to die
Painting a line around the body
I want to go back to rules
When everything was bad or good
When I was simply misunderstood
If you’re gonna wait so long
I’ve got no choice but to move on
Feeling before sex occurs is wrong
Pictures of all friends
Have got me looking forward again
To video games and video sins

You might live and you might die
But you my friend will overcome

Feeling a sense of hope
For so damn long I felt so old
Taking a chance on the telephone
Thinking of what it takes
To kill me now that I’ve burnt those brakes
One body at a time these days

You might live and you might die
But you my friend will overcome
Track Name: The Highlight
Pick a disguise as the lights turn to shade as the doctors wish you a nice…
It’s such a shame but the highlight today won’t involve you at all
Do things have to be a charade make believe we’re ok come on baby you’ll…
Granted it’s true I’m still in love with you but what does that mean

All of my dreams play the same sorry scene I’m ashamed to admit
There’s only one end then it happens again like everything I’ve…
But it helps to write fears desires and fights a new face a new life
A new possible plan to go backwards again what’s the difference I’m already there
Track Name: Australia
You are my sad goodbye
You make me drink
You are my only regret
That makes me think

Of all the little things
We used to do
Of all the little ones
We never knew

You feel something in you but it’s not enough
You feel something breaking but you can’t hold on
You feel something in you but it’s not enough
You feel something breaking but you can’t hold on

Our sense of timing’s off
You’re early, I’m late
We kiss not because of love
But to avoid hate

If other lives were ours
Who would you be?
I’d be your broken heart
Ever bleeding

You feel something in you but it’s not enough
You feel something breaking but you can’t hold on
You feel something in you but it’s not enough
You feel something breaking but you can’t hold on

It’s setting you up
It’s breaking you down
Surrounded by things
But no one’s around
